Today's flavor:  a very lively lemon

Giant Cupcakes

This was a request over the weekend.  A giant cupcake cake!  I created the "baking cup" with chocolate, using the silicone cake pan as a mold.  Then baked the top and bottom of the cake.  It's actually a 3 layer cake!  Two layers fit down inside the baking cup and the top is one layer.  For the giant sprinkles I used tropical Mike and Ike's.  And the cherry on top is a cake pop of course! 

I had fun making this and there are so many things you can do with it.  The request was for a "cupcake", but you could make a fairy house, animals like a dog, pig or cat.

You could also make it look elegant, and make it the top of a wedding cupcake tower. Adding beautiful flowers all over it.  Then smaller cupcakes on all the levels below it.

Another thing I want to do is take that "baking cup" mold and filling it with chocolate covered strawberries.  Yumm!!  THAT would make someone's day!

These were created today for a 1st birthday, but they are great for baby showers.  The inside cake can be pink or blue. 

Make it an even bigger treat at a revealing party. When everyone bites into the owl cake pop they'll know if it's a boy or a girl!

Mothers Day Idea: Edible Bouquets

Edible bouquets are so fun and unique!  This was a gift for my wonderful friend and neighbor who helped me out in a big way yesterday on her own birthday.  She is a runner, most recently doing triathlons, and I thought she might enjoy a healthy treat.  Thank you Amber, enjoy!

To make your own at home you'll need a terra cotta pot, fruit, frilly lettuce, large flower cookie cutter, bamboo skewers, and foam to put inside the flower pot.  (Notes:  Use the styrofoam kind so pieces do not come off in your food.  Metal cookie cutters work best.)  This is a great project to do with kids.  You could add a big beautiful bow and maybe some chocolate dipped strawberries with fancy swirls.  Have fun!!
